33+3 = 36 members!

Less than a week before the opening of COP 26 and on the sidelines of IAC 2021, three countries have joined the SCO initiative: welcome to Saudi Arabia, Norway and Slovakia!

An unmissable event for all players in the space sector, the 72nd IAC 2021 International Congress of Astronautics, which took place at the Dubai World Trade Center (United Arab Emirates), was an excellent opportunity for new space agencies to join the SCO.

Thus, on October 26 and 27, 2021, three space agencies signed the SCO Expression of Interest on behalf of their countries:

  • Saudi Arabia, represented by the SCC (Saudi Space Commission);
  • Norway, represented by the NOSA (Norwegian Space Agency);
  • Slovakia, represented by the industry branch of the SSO (Slovak Space Office).

The SCO International now has 36 members. All are actively working to finalise the International Charter, with the aim of signing it by June 2022.

To date, 43 projects have been labelled SCO and involve countries whose combined CO2 emissions correspond to more than half of global emissions. The France and Europe call for projects is open until November 15, 2021.
