The SCO showcases its work in Hanoi
The Space for Climate Observatory is all about data, satellites, climate and collaboration. In this spirit of sharing, SCO France and the French Embassy in Hanoi have joined forces to present, to mark the UN World Space Week from 4 to 10 October 2026, a major SCO exhibition on the walls of the French Embassy in the Vietnamese capital.
Why SCO France in Hanoi?
The space sector lends itself well to international collaboration, as exemplified by the landmark partnership between the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (USTH) and the French space agency CNES. The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) has also been a signatory to the SCO Charter since September 2025. Several projects implemented in Vietnam and supported by SCO France have become benchmarks. In this context, the SCO in Hanoi represents a deliberate collaboration between the French Embassy – with its commitment to raising awareness of climate cooperation tools – and, of course, the SCO’s missions in the service of climate diplomacy.
An exhibition aimed at the general public
Water management, responses to natural disasters, urban adaptation… All SCO projects aim to provide tools to help adapt to the many impacts of climate change and, in fact, serve people all over the world. It is therefore only natural to present these services to the citizens who benefit from them.
👉 Specifically designed for the public, 12 of the 17 display panels briefly describe different types of SCOlutions, notably those implemented in Vietnam or neighboring countries (see examples below).

🌆 Accredited by SCO France in March 2026, we should also highlight two other projects getting underway in Vietnam:
- HOSWA, which is setting up an observatory in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) to address subsidence and water-related issues;
- RIVERS, which is developing a platform of immersive digital twins to strengthen education, early warning systems and flood resilience in South-East Asia and France.
🤝 SCO France extends its sincere thanks to the French Embassy in Hanoi and to the teams on both sides who have made this unique exhibition possible.
Focus on Asia at the SCO World Virtual Congress On Tuesday 17 November 2026, Asia, its rivers and its deltas will be at the heart of discussions highlighting how satellite data can be transformed into early warning, monitoring, and action-oriented tools to protect both populations and ecosystems.
